TECLens Closes $10 Million Series A2 Extension Financing to Advance Proof-of-Concept Study for Non-Invasive Vision Correction Technology

Series A2 financing supports continued expansion of first-in-human clinical program for the company’s proprietary qCXL™ platform

STAMFORD, Connecticut – August 25, 2026 – TECLens, Inc., a clinical-stage ophthalmic medical device company pioneering non-invasive vision correction, today announced the closing of a $10 million Series A2 extension financing. The round includes participation from existing investors, including Johnson & Johnson (through its corporate venture capital organization, Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JJDC, Inc.). The financing will support continued advancement of the company’s proof-of-concept clinical study evaluating its proprietary qCXL™ quantitative corneal cross-linking technology, including expansion of its first-in-human clinical program for non-invasive refractive vision correction.

The Series A2 extension reflects continued momentum following the initiation of TECLens’ first-in-human proof-of-concept study and growing confidence in the company’s differentiated approach to reshaping the cornea without cutting or removing tissue. The additional capital will enable the company to continue generating PoC data supporting the qCXL™ platform, develop the next generation system, strengthen its regulatory strategy, and set the stage for IDE submission.

“This financing reflects the significant progress TECLens has made in advancing our proof-of-concept clinical study and the growing confidence in our technology,” said Madhu Ayyagari, PhD, MBA, Chief Executive Officer of TECLens. “The early progress we’ve seen continues to reinforce the potential of qCXL™ as a fundamentally different approach to refractive vision correction. These proceeds will enable us to further expand our clinical program, generate additional clinical data, and continue advancing the CXLens® platform toward becoming a non-invasive treatment option for patients seeking vision correction.”

Dr. Ayyagari assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer in June this year. He brings extensive experience in ophthalmology, medtech innovation, and company development, and has played a central role in shaping TECLens’ corporate strategy, operational execution, and clinical direction. As the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ayyagari will lead TECLens’ next phase of growth, with a focus on advancing the company’s clinical, regulatory and product development initiatives, scaling operations, and strengthening TECLens’ position within the ophthalmic market.

The financing follows the company’s announcement earlier this year of the first patient treated in its first-in-human proof-of-concept clinical study evaluating qCXL™ for non-invasive refractive vision correction. Building on encouraging early progress, TECLens expanded the financing round to accommodate strong investor interest, including participation from strategic investors entering the syndicate.

TECLens’ proprietary CXLens® System delivers personalized, patterned ultraviolet (UV) light to reshape the cornea while preserving the epithelium. Unlike traditional surgical refractive procedures that cut or remove corneal tissue, qCXL™ creates new molecular bonds in precise locations to strengthen and reshape the cornea for vision correction. The CXLens® System combines a proprietary treatment planning engine with real-time ultrasound monitoring to help ensure accurate execution of each personalized treatment plan. The company’s current proof-of-concept study is focused on patients with refractive errors, with particular emphasis on presbyopia, a condition affecting nearly two billion people worldwide.

TECLens will share updates on its clinical development program during upcoming presentations at this year’s European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) meeting in London and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) annual meeting in New Orleans, where company leadership will discuss the continued advancement of the qCXL™ platform and its potential to transform refractive vision correction.
